[Well, in her defense, she knows he treats her like that, she just doesn't think he thinks of her as a friend.] Calling yourself his master is rude. [She rolls her eyes and scratches Uri under the chin before returning to pet his back.

Her attention's brought back to her book by Gokudera, and she blinks and looks down at her lap.] Ah, this. It's a conversation book, to Italian. I'm trying to learn. [So I can ninja out of this joint.]

[derachan]

[Of course she's his friend, anyone who gets as close as she's wrangled with Tsuna gets to be called a friend. Unless he's having a bad day.

He makes teenage boy grunt number seventeen at the book, leans forward and takes it, ruffling through and thoroughly losing her place.]

Why buy a book when you're surrounded by people who speak it?

[harutastic]

[She scowls at him when he does that, and would reach over for it if Uri hadn't settled right accross her lap now that it's unnocupied. And they thought they didn't work well as a team. Pah!]

Give that back, I - [The question makes her pause, blink.] No-one has time to teach Haru. Everyone's busy with training and...stuff - I can do things on my own too, you know? I'm not going to sit and demand a tutor until I get one.

[derachan]

[He looks at the book a little more carefully, flicks through a few pages, actually reading them and then passes it back, crossing his arms. It's not as terrible a book as it might be but it still doesn't have all the things that he would mention.

Her point about everyone being busy actually sounds sensible.]

Your pronunciation is going to be fucking terrible. [He slouches down in his chair.] Run it by me first before you bring shame to the family. [And with Uri throwing a kitty hissy, he's got fuck all to do.]

[He seems to forget that she went to a very demanding private school back in Namimori, and that her father was a college professor - it's only natural that Haru demands as much of herself as her father demanded of himself; she learned from him. She has half a mind to take insult to his accusations.

Until she recognizes it for what it is: Gokudera sucking at offering his help to anyone that isn't Tsuna. He's really bad. She laughs a little, and shakes her head before settling back in her chair, glancing at him from the corners of her eyes as she opens her mouth and Italian comes out.] You're so silly. Have some trust in Haru.

[derachan]

[He tries very hard not to look agog. Fails miserably, slouches down further and deepens his frown. Her pronunciation isn't perfect but it's certainly understandable and much better than he'd thought it would be. If he was easily impressed he'd be... no he's totally impressed. Maybe the cat helps study, he'll have to try it on Tsuna.

If she's going to show off he figured she should be able to handle him replying in kind.]

Trust is earned. And I'm not silly.

[HAHAHA YES, sure it's the cat. No, it's Haru being super smart - or who else was there during Maths studies, hm? Of course, it's usually something that impresses people, considering the feeling her usual personality normally gives people. But she'd thought that after all these years as - hey, friends? - he'd know better.

She struggles a bit with is earned, not understanding that word; but the negation is simple - it makes her smile and let out a little laugh before shrugging. Maybe you think you aren't, but you are.] What does 'is earned' mean?

[derachan]

[Is Haru Tsuna or anyone Gokudera pays real attention to? No. Because Haru isn't Tsuna. She exists in his sidelines of not Tsuna and mildly annoying.

He rubs a wrinkle out of his sleeve, only to have another take its place; it's one of those shirts. He's never taught language without a guide, isn't certain which approach to take.] You have to work for it. Like, money is earned, friendship is earned and responsibility is earned.

[harutastic]

[Yes, Haru's eternal destiny: to be in the sidelines for everyone ever. If she weren't used to this by now, she'd be very hurt. But it's one of those things that you just - learn to accept, maybe. Somehow.

Surely, someday someone will notice her as more than just the sidelined girl. Surely.]

Ahh. So you don't trust me?

[derachan]

['Fraid Gokudera's too busy being a bit of an idiot. Guy is smart but so so dumb.]

No.

[Awkward. His shoulders hunch up to his ears.]

Why not? [Has she not been around for years? If she were really untrustworthy, she'd have left after Tsuna openly chose Kyoko, not...stuck around like an intelligent version of a lap dog.

It hurts that Gokudera doesn't. Sure, they're not the closest, but... She thought he, of all people, would see loyalty and recognize it.]

[derachan]

[Aren't the Japanese supposed to be discrete? What happened to make her miss that. He wants to give her the run around. But it would be obvious, and he shouldn't care. Except, the reason is: he doesn't understand her. He doesn't know why she tags along with the rest of them, can't understand what keeps her sticking with it. And with a smile, too. He twitches - a shrug.]

Trust is for people without enemies.

[It's a reason at least, even if it is a lie.]

[It upsets her a lot more than it should. There's a hint there, that she's not to be trusted, that he expects her to rat them all out at one point. She picks up Uri, and stands up from her chair.]

If I wanted to betray you, I could've done it countless times before, Gokudera.

[She pauses, before leaning in and dropping the cat in his lap - fully calmed, for a while - before snatching her book away.] It's a shame, because Haru would trust you with her life, thug or not.

[Whoa, easy on the book, what did it ever do?]

You could be waiting for the right moment. To launch into sabotage.

[He doesn't want to think about her trusting him with her life. She's an outlier, he wouldn't know what to do if he had a hold on her life. Probably help - try to.] I'm not that much of a thug.
